Brew Crew Spreads Holiday Cheer at Boyle Road
The Brew Crew Café at Comsewogue High School recently visited Boyle Road Elementary School to spread holiday cheer by serving staff a festive menu of coffee, hot chocolate, and tea.
“We had such a wonderful experience welcoming the Brew Crew to Boyle Road, where they spread holiday cheer and served delicious beverages to warm up our employees,” said Boyle Road Principal Nicole Sooknanan. “It was such a joyous occasion for all just ahead of the holidays.”
The Brew Crew Café is operated by students in the Comsewogue School District’s life skills program, providing them with meaningful, hands-on work experience without leaving their high school campus. The café, located within the halls of Comsewogue High School, allows students to develop essential workplace, communication, and socialization skills in a supportive environment.
In fall 2023, the District celebrated the grand opening of the Brew Crew Café with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Since its opening, the café has offered life skills students regular opportunities to support the day-to-day operations of a working coffee shop while learning valuable, transferable skills applicable to a wide range of future employment settings.
The Brew Crew Café is part of the District’s broader efforts to ensure students in the life skills program receive education and training that seamlessly transition from school to real-world experiences. As the first program of its kind in the District, the café has served as a model for further work-based learning opportunities.
