Each year, students at Norwood are encouraged to participate in character education activities with an emphasis on kindness and the impact it can have on others.

From September 19th through September 23rd, Norwood participated in 'Start with Hello" Week, a nationwide program, created by Sand Hook Promise that helps students engage in activities and helps everyone feel connected and inclusive without our school community. Each day included a different activity to encourage friendship, cooperation and kindness.

On Monday, September 19th, students and staff were encouraged to say "hello" to three people that they didn't know. On Tuesday, everyone was encouraged to greet others by their name. Students and staff we provided name badges for this activity.

On Wednesday, everyone wore the color green, the color of the Sandy Hook Promise, to encourage inclusiveness. On Thursday, everyone was asked to share their smile with those in need and to be extra kind to five people during the day.

To wrap up the week, on Friday, students and staff wore blue and gold to stand together, show their Warrior Pride and show that we are a welcoming and inclusive school community. Check our pictures below (link for app users) from each day during Start with Hello week!
